The transition from pre-clinical to clinical years is one of the most challenging periods in a medical student's journey. Suddenly, the structured classroom environment gives way to the unpredictable rhythms of ward rounds, emergency calls, and the emotional weight of patient care. Drawing from the experiences of over 50 final-year students I interviewed for this piece, I outline evidence-based time management strategies, note-taking systems tailored for clinical settings, and mental health practices that have helped peers successfully navigate this demanding phase.
